The fastest cars in the world 2020

The fastest cars in the world

Automobiles today have to be environmentally friendly, affordable, and, if possible, equipped with alternative drives. The days of the powerful bolides seem to be numbered. But they still exist, the vehicles that make racing drivers' hearts beat faster.

Do you think a top speed of 250 or even 300 km / h is impressive? Then you have not seen these 9 fastest cars in the world! Speed limits are not for them, they only get enough space on special routes. Because once you've set off, top speeds of over 400 km / h are no more than a no brainer for the best of them.

For years, Bugatti and Hennessey fought for the crown of the fastest production vehicle in the world, and even small car manufacturers repeatedly presented designs for fast-paced road vehicles. The current fastest production car is a Koenigsegg. The record as the fastest production vehicle, on the other hand, has been held by the same model for years - and not because it is the fastest car there is.

1st place: Koenigsegg Agera RS

In November 2017, the Koenigsegg Agera RS set the world record for series-produced road vehicles that Bugatti had previously held. The car reached 447 km / h in the Nevada desert. You can read everything about the currently fastest car in the world here.

2nd place: Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

If you want to own a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, you have to be able to dig into your pocket properly: the basic version costs an impressive 1.65 million euros. The buyer gets 883 kW (1200 hp) and a top speed of 431.31 km / h. This time was recorded by an Irish record judge in 2010 and gave the Bugatti Veyron the title of the fastest production vehicle in the world. Until the new Koenigsegg came.

3rd place: Bugatti Chiron

Bugatti wanted to secure the place at the top of the world's fastest production cars with the Bugatti Chiron, which cost around 2.4 million euros. What this luxurious power pack can do: The Chiron has a 1,103 kW (1500 hp) engine that boosts the super sports car to 100 km / h in 2.5 seconds, to 200 km / h in 6.5 seconds, and after 13.6 seconds Accelerated 300 km / h. According to the manufacturer, the Chiron outperforms both the Hennessey Venom GT and the official leader in terms of top speed: it should be 458 km / h. However, the Chiron is limited to 420 km / h, which blocks the top position in this ranking. This does not seem to bother buyers: 300 of the high-end speedster for the larger wallet, which is limited to 500 pieces, are said to have already been sold.

4th place: Hennessey Venom F5

The Venom GT is to be followed by the Venom F5. Its name is based on the Fujita scale used to classify tornadoes. And that's no coincidence: The youngest Hennessey scion is said to reach a top speed of 467 km / h and is equipped with a 1451 hp engine. Company founder John Hennessey wants to reach for the crown of the fastest production vehicle. However, only a small series is planned here.

5th place: Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey Performance is a small series manufacturer from Texas who has created a real racing machine with its Venom GT. With an output of 914 kW (1244 hp), the athlete races to a speed of 300 km / h within 13.63 seconds. There is even a maximum of 435.31 km / h. He even beats the world record holder listed in the Guinness Book. Officially, the Venom GT holds the speed record for sports cars, but officially he is not entitled to the leader because he is not a production vehicle. Only 12 of the Venom GT were built, each individual model had a construction period of six months.

6th place: SSC Tuatara

The latest offspring from SSC North America, based in the US state of Washington, has only one purpose: to repeat the record for the fastest road vehicle. For this, the SSC Tuatara, which was named after a New Zealand bridge lizard, should be able to drive at an impressive 444 km / h. According to official manufacturer information, the super speedster is equipped with a 1,007 kW motor that brings 1,369 hp to the road. In addition to these impressive figures, the stated retail price is rather puny: the Tuatara is said to cost just under 740,000 euros. Critics may be eagerly awaiting the first performance tests.

7th place: 9ff GT9

At first glance, you can still see it, the prototype of the GT9, the Porsche 911. However, apart from the characteristic bonnet-headlight duo, not much is true to the original. For this, the bolide of the German tuning company 9ff makes a whopping 1,400 hp and accelerates to a top speed of 437 km / h. In fact, independent tests measured "only" 414 km / h.

8th place: SSC Ultimate Aero TT

The SSC Ultimate Aero TT from the small series manufacturer SSC North America reaches a top speed of 412 km / h. The V8 engine of the super sports car has a displacement of 6,187 cubic centimeters and an output of an impressive 583 kW (793 hp). The Aero was produced until 2013 and in the meantime held the record before a Bugatti overtook it. The US manufacturer is now building a new supercar.

9th place: Koenigsegg One: 1

The limited special model One: 1 also comes from the Swedish small series manufacturer Koenigsegg. It was introduced three years ago and was supposed to be produced six times. What is special about the One: 1 is its name in addition to the top speed of 440 km / h and 1,360 hp. It is an indication of the ratio of power (PS) to weight. It is exactly 1: 1. The One: 1 has so far failed to provide proof of its performance data.

10th place: Koenigsegg CCXR Special Edition

The Swedish carmaker Koenigsegg has released some real racing horses from his stable. The CCXR Special Edition is just one of them. And it existed exactly twice. With an output of 759 kW (1032 hp), the car has a top speed of 402 km / h. It reaches 100 km / h after just 2.9 seconds. And at just 178 kilograms, it is a real lightweight.

11th place: McLaren F1

The McLaren F1 held the record for the fastest car in the world for twelve years. Between 1993 and 1997, over 100 copies of it were made, of which only 72 were approved for road use. The other vehicles were either converted to GT1 racing cars or were prototypes. The McLaren F1 has an output of 461 to 500 kW (627 to 680 hp). A prototype of the car reached a top speed of 386 km / h.
